Achievements Of China'S Cultural Construction In The Past 60 Years Since The Founding Of New China
Today, the State Council held a press conference on the 60 year development achievements of China's cultural construction. Cai Wu, Secretary of the Party branch of the Ministry of culture and minister, attended the press conference and answered reporters' questions.
In the early days of the founding of new China, China mainly carried out extensive exchanges and cooperation in the fields of literature, art, books and museums, mainly with the socialist countries led by the Soviet Union and the Afro Asian countries.
In 1951, China signed the first intergovernmental cultural cooperation agreement with Poland, marking the beginning of the new cultural exchange between China and the Republic of China.
At present, China has maintained good cultural exchanges with more than 160 countries and regions in the world, signed intergovernmental cultural cooperation agreements with 145 countries and implemented nearly 800 annual cultural exchange plans, and gradually formed a comprehensive, multi-level, wide-ranging, multi-channel new pattern of foreign language communication.
In 2008, there were 6300 foreign cultural exchange projects and 7332 people. There were 577 exchanges and 1492 trips with the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Region. There were 42 exchanges and 2796 people in the Taiwan area.
China has established 96 embassies and consulates in the 82 countries in the world. Since 1988, China has established 7 Chinese cultural centers in Mauritius, Benin, France, Malta, Egypt, South Korea and Germany.
In addition, our work with the United Kingdom, Russia, Mexico, Japan, Thailand, Mongolia and other cultural centers is also actively preparing.
